Clipdeck Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-09-04
Clipdeck ("the app") is a clipboard manager and snippet keeper provided by DDJ A1 ("we", "us"). It saves text you copy or send to it, lets you search it, pin it, organize it into groups, and paste it again with one tap from the app, a home screen widget, a quick settings tile or a notification. Clipdeck is deliberately designed as a local-only app: it has no account system, no login, no server, and no cloud storage operated by us.
Data stored on your device
Every clip and snippet you save — its text, the optional title you give it, its group, whether it is pinned, when it was saved, and your app settings — is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to us. There is no sign-up, account, or login. Deleting the app deletes all of this data from your device. Android's standard app backup may include this data in your own Google account backup if you have device backup enabled; that backup is controlled by you and Google, not by us.
The backup file you create with "Export backup" is written to the location you choose through Android's file picker, and its safekeeping is under your control. If you use the Share feature, the shared text is delivered only to the destination you explicitly choose (for example a messaging app).
How the app reads the clipboard
Android does not allow an app to read the clipboard while it is in the background. Clipdeck therefore reads the clipboard only at moments you trigger yourself:
- when you open the app (this can be turned off in Settings → "Save on app open"),
- when you tap the save button on the widget, the quick settings tile, or the app's notification,
- when you select text in another app and choose Clipdeck from the text selection menu,
- when you send text to Clipdeck from another app's share menu.
Clipdeck does not use the Accessibility Service, does not run a background clipboard listener, and does not read the content of other apps. Clipboard content read this way is written to the app's local storage on your device and is never sent anywhere by us.
Because a clipboard can contain sensitive text (passwords, card numbers, addresses), we recommend deleting such clips after use — the app keeps deleted clips in Trash for 30 days so you can restore mistakes, and you can empty the Trash at any time.
Information collected automatically
When you use the app, certain information may be collected automatically by third-party SDKs used for advertising. This may include:
- Your device's Internet Protocol (IP) address
- Your device's advertising identifier (Advertising ID)
- App usage events such as session time and screens viewed
- The mobile operating system and device model you use
This information is processed by the advertising provider described below. Your clips and snippets are never included: they never leave your device, and they are not linked by us to any of the information above.
Advertising
The app displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob. Ads are never shown inside the widget, the quick settings tile, or the notification, and they never cover the text of a clip. To serve ads, AdMob and its partners may access your device's Advertising ID and the information described above. For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, and other regions where required, the app presents a consent form via Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) before personalized advertising data is used; if you decline, non-personalized ads are shown instead. You can reset or limit ad personalization at any time in your device settings (Settings → Google → Ads), and you can change your consent choice from the app's Settings screen ("Ad privacy settings").
For more information on how Google uses data when you use partners' apps, see https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Notifications
Daily reminders and the optional recent-clips notification are scheduled and shown locally on your device. No push notification service is used, and notification content is not sent to any server. You can turn reminders off in Settings, or revoke the notification permission in Android settings.
Permissions the app asks for and why
- Notifications (optional). For daily reminders and the optional notification that keeps your recent clips one tap away. The app works without it.
- Internet / network state. Used only to request advertisements. No app data is uploaded.
- Advertising ID. Used by Google AdMob as described above.
- Run at startup. Used only to re-register local reminder alarms after the device restarts.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app displays ads configured through Google AdMob in accordance with Google's policies.
Your rights
Because your clips exist only on your device, you are in direct control of them: you can view, edit, or delete them in the app at any time, and uninstalling the app removes them completely. Depending on your region (e.g. GDPR in the EEA/UK, CCPA in California), you may also have rights regarding data processed by advertising SDKs; you can exercise ad-related choices through the consent form and your device's ad settings described above.
Security
Your clips never leave your device, which removes the most common exposure paths (server breaches, account leaks). We recommend protecting your device with a screen lock.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
