Alternating acetaminophen and ibuprofen: how to track timing

Short answer: If your doctor has told you to alternate, the hard part is not the plan but remembering it at night. Write down every dose with the time and the medicine name, and track each medicine's own interval separately.

This is general information, not medical advice. Always follow the medicine label and your doctor or pharmacist, and contact a doctor if you are worried.

Why timing gets confusing

With two medicines, there are two clocks: time since the last dose of this medicine, and time since the last dose of any medicine. Tired parents mix them up, which is how doses end up too close together.

What to record for every dose

Check the daily total

Labels set a minimum interval and a maximum number of doses per 24 hours for each medicine. Count doses in the last 24 hours, not since midnight.

In Feverwise

Log a dose in one tap. Home shows the next allowed time for each medicine group and doses in the last 24 h, using the interval and daily maximum you set from the label or your doctor. Feverwise does not calculate doses.
