Gaugely Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2026-10-12

Gaugely ("the app") is a GPS speedometer and trip meter provided by DDJ A1 ("we", "us"). Gaugely is designed as a local-only app: it has no account system, no login, no server, and no cloud storage operated by us.

Data stored on your device

Everything the app keeps — your recorded trips (route points, distance, duration, average and maximum speed), your speed limit alert value, units and other settings — is stored only on your device and is not transmitted to us. There is no sign-up, account, or login. Deleting trips in the app, or uninstalling the app, deletes this data from your device. Android's standard app backup may include this data in your own Google account backup if you have device backup enabled; that backup is controlled by you and Google, not by us.

Location

The app uses your device's precise location (GPS) to calculate your current speed, distance, and the route of a trip you choose to record. The app itself does not send your location or trip data off your device. While a trip is being recorded, the app keeps a foreground service with a visible notification so recording continues when the screen is off; recording stops when you end the trip.

Separately, the advertising SDK described below may collect your approximate location (including from your IP address) and, because the app has location permission, may access your precise location for advertising, analytics, and fraud prevention, as explained under "Information collected automatically".

Sharing

If you tap "Share", the app creates an image or short text of a trip summary on your device and hands it only to the destination you pick in the system share sheet. The home screen widget reads the same data stored on your device. We never receive any of this data.

Permissions the app asks for and why

The app does not request access to your contacts, camera, microphone, photos, or SMS.

Information collected automatically

When you use the app, certain information may be collected automatically by third-party SDKs used for advertising. This may include:

This information is collected by the advertising SDK and shared with Google (AdMob) and its advertising partners for advertising, analytics, and fraud prevention, security and compliance purposes. It is encrypted in transit. It is not linked by us to your trip data, which stays on your device.

Advertising

The app displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob: a banner at the bottom of the screen (hidden in HUD mode), an ad when the app starts, and full-screen ads only at natural pauses when you are not moving (for example right after you end a trip or open a trip's details) — never while you are driving. To serve ads, AdMob and its partners may access your device's Advertising ID and the information described above. For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, and other regions where required, the app presents a consent form via Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) before personalized advertising data is used; if you decline, non-personalized ads are shown instead. You can reset or limit ad personalization at any time in your device settings (Settings → Google → Ads), and you can change your consent choice from the app's Settings screen.

For more information on how Google uses data when you use partners' apps, see https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Safety

Speed readings are estimates from GPS and may be delayed or inaccurate (for example in tunnels or among tall buildings). Always rely on your vehicle's speedometer and obey traffic laws. Do not interact with the app while driving.

Children

Gaugely is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your rights

Because your trip data exists only on your device, you are in direct control of it: you can delete it in the app at any time, and uninstalling the app removes everything completely. Depending on your region (e.g. GDPR in the EEA/UK, CCPA in California), you may also have rights regarding data processed by advertising SDKs; you can exercise ad-related choices through the consent form and your device's ad settings described above.
