Hidefolio Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2026-09-15

Hidefolio ("the app") is a photo and video gallery with a private folder, provided by DDJ A1 ("we", "us"). Hidefolio is designed as a local-only app: it has no account system, no login, no server, and no cloud storage operated by us.

Your photos and videos stay on your device

To show your gallery, the app asks for Android's photos and videos permission and reads your photos and videos directly from your device. You can grant access to all items or only to items you select. We never upload, collect, sell, or share your photos or videos.

When you hide an item, the app copies it into the app's private storage on your device and then asks Android to remove the original from your gallery (Android shows a confirmation). When you unhide an item, it is written back to your gallery in its original folder. Hidden items never leave your device.

Because hidden items are kept only inside the app on this device, uninstalling the app or clearing its data permanently deletes hidden items. The app reminds you to use "Unhide all" before uninstalling or switching phones. Hidden items are excluded from Android backups.

PIN and fingerprint

Your 4-digit PIN is stored on your device only as a salted hash. If you enable fingerprint unlock, or use your phone's screen lock to reset a forgotten PIN, authentication is handled entirely by the Android system; the app never receives your fingerprint or screen lock credentials.

App preferences (theme, favorites, grid size) are stored only on your device. Uninstalling the app removes them.

If you use Share, the selected photos or videos are delivered only to the destination you explicitly choose.

Information collected automatically

Certain information may be collected automatically by the third-party advertising SDK used in the app. This may include:

This information is processed by the advertising provider described below and is never linked to your photos or videos, which never leave your device.

Advertising

The app displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob, and the Advertising ID and the information above are collected and shared with Google (a third party) for that purpose. For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, and other regions where required, the app presents a consent form via Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) before personalized advertising data is used; if you decline, non-personalized ads are shown instead. You can reset or limit ad personalization in your device settings (Settings → Google → Ads), and you can change your consent choice from the app's Settings screen.

For more information on how Google uses data when you use partners' apps, see https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Notifications

Reminders are shown locally on your device using the Android notification system. No push notification service is used, and notifications never show your photos or anything you have hidden.

Children

The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your rights

Because your photos, videos, and hidden items exist only on your device, you are in direct control of them. Depending on your region (e.g. GDPR in the EEA/UK, CCPA in California), you may also have rights regarding data processed by advertising SDKs; you can exercise ad-related choices through the consent form and your device's ad settings described above.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
