Namepair Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2026-10-13

Namepair — a baby name app that helps two parents swipe through names separately and find the names they both like ("the app") is provided by DDJ A1 ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data the app handles and how. Namepair has no account system and we do not operate a server for it.

Data stored on your device

The names you like or pass, your shortlist and rankings, the last name and preferences you enter, match results and your settings are stored only on your device and are not transmitted to us. The name list and popularity data are built into the app and work offline. Deleting items, or uninstalling the app, deletes this data from your device. Android's standard app backup may include this data in your own Google account backup if you have device backup enabled; that backup is controlled by you and Google, not by us.

Matching with your partner and sharing

Matching works without any server. If you tap "Share my code", the app creates a short text code of your liked names and hands it to the app you choose (for example a messenger). Your partner pastes that code into their app, and the comparison happens on their device. If you share a result card, the app creates an image and hands it to the app you select. That content is handled only by you, your partner and the destination you select.

Permissions the app asks for and why

Information collected automatically

When you use the app, certain information may be collected automatically by third-party SDKs used for advertising. This may include:

This information is collected by the advertising SDK and shared with Google (AdMob) and its advertising partners for advertising, analytics, and fraud prevention, security and compliance purposes. It is encrypted in transit. It is not linked by us to your name lists, which stay on your device.

Advertising

The app displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob: a banner at the bottom of some screens, an ad when the app starts, and full-screen ads only at natural pauses (for example right after you finish your daily set of names). To serve ads, AdMob and its partners may access your device's Advertising ID and the information described above. For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, and other regions where required, the app presents a consent form via Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) before personalized advertising data is used; if you decline, non-personalized ads are shown instead. You can reset or limit ad personalization at any time in your device settings (Settings → Google → Ads), and you can change your consent choice from the app's Settings screen.

For more information on how Google uses data when you use partners' apps, see https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Children

Namepair is intended for adults (expecting parents) and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your rights

Because your data exists only on your device, you are in direct control of it: you can delete items in the app at any time, and uninstalling the app removes everything completely. Depending on your region (e.g. GDPR in the EEA/UK, CCPA in California), you may also have rights regarding data processed by advertising SDKs; you can exercise ad-related choices through the consent form and your device's ad settings described above.

Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new effective date.
