Written test passing score and format (2026 update)
Short answer: The Korean driver's license written test (학과시험) has 40 questions and a 40-minute time limit. You pass a Class 2 license with 60 points or more, and a Class 1 license with 70 points or more. Questions are drawn from a public question bank; the current bank took effect on March 9, 2026.
Question types
- Text questions: traffic laws, safe driving, and vehicle knowledge. Some ask you to pick two answers.
- Road sign questions: what a sign means or which sign fits a situation.
- Photo and illustration questions: choose the safest action in a road scene.
What changed in 2026
The question bank was revised and took effect on March 9, 2026. Study with material based on that bank, so you don't memorize outdated questions.
How to use this
Because every question comes from the bank, practicing with the full bank and timed 40-question mock tests is the most direct way to prepare.
