TapLight Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2026-09-09

TapLight ("the app") is a flashlight app provided by DDJ A1 ("we", "us"). TapLight is deliberately designed as a local-only app: it has no account system, no login, no server, and no cloud storage operated by us. Your settings never leave your phone.

Data stored on your device

Your preferences — theme, brightness level, whether the light turns on when the app opens, reminder and quiet-hours settings — are stored only on your device in the app's private storage and are never transmitted to us.

There is no sign-up, account or login. Uninstalling the app deletes all of this data. Android's standard app backup may include this data in your own Google account backup if you have device backup enabled; that backup is controlled by you and Google, not by us.

Permissions

TapLight does not ask for camera permission. Many flashlight apps do; TapLight does not need to. The app switches the LED using Android's CameraManager.setTorchMode() API, which controls the torch without opening the camera and without any camera permission. TapLight cannot take photos, record video, or see anything through your camera.

TapLight asks for one runtime permission:

The app also declares the following install-time permissions:

TapLight does not request camera, phone, contacts, location, microphone, storage, display-over-other-apps, or battery-optimization exemptions. The compass uses your device's magnetic and motion sensors, which require no permission and no location access.

Information collected automatically

When you use the app, certain information may be collected automatically by third-party SDKs used for advertising. This may include:

This information is processed by the advertising provider described below.

Advertising

The app displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob. To serve ads, AdMob and its partners may access your device's Advertising ID and the information described above; this data is shared with Google as a third party for advertising and marketing purposes. For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, and other regions where required, the app presents a consent form via Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) before personalized advertising data is used; if you decline, non-personalized ads are shown instead. You can reset or limit ad personalization at any time in your device settings (Settings → Google → Ads), and you can change your consent choice from the app's Settings screen ("Reset ad consent").

Ads never stand between you and the light. The home screen widget and the Quick Settings tile switch the flashlight on with no ad at any point, the main on/off button is never gated by an ad, and the full-screen light mode carries no banner.

For more information on how Google uses data when you use partners' apps, see https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Notifications and reminders

The ongoing "light is on" notification and the optional reminders are created and scheduled locally on your device. No push notification service is used, and we send you nothing from a server. Reminders can be turned off at any time in the app's Settings, and quiet hours (22:00–07:00) are on by default.

Children

The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app displays ads configured through Google AdMob in accordance with Google's policies.

Your rights

Because your data exists only on your device, you are in direct control of it: you can change any setting in the app at any time, and uninstalling the app removes everything. Depending on your region (e.g. GDPR in the EEA/UK, CCPA in California), you may also have rights regarding data processed by advertising SDKs; you can exercise ad-related choices through the consent form and your device's ad settings described above.

Because we hold no data about you, we cannot delete data on your behalf — there is nothing on our side to delete.

Security

Your data never leaves your device, which removes the most common exposure paths (server breaches, account leaks). We recommend protecting your device with a screen lock.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
