Unhook app icon

Instagram without Reels. YouTube without Shorts.

Unhook doesn't hide the feed — it throws you back out the moment you land in Reels, Shorts or a TikTok feed. Messages, subscriptions, search and your friends' posts keep working. No account, no internet permission, all modes free.

Block Reels, keep messages

Uses Android accessibility to detect the Reels / Shorts / TikTok feed screen and send you back. DMs, Stories, subscriptions and search are untouched.

Three strengths, all free

Light lets 10 videos or 5 minutes pass before blocking, Normal allows 3 videos or 15 minutes, Strict kicks you out instantly. Switch any time.

You can see it's working

The home screen shows 'Detection active'. If Android drops the accessibility permission after an update or battery optimisation, Unhook notifies you instead of silently stopping.

No internet permission

Unhook has no network permission at all — it can't send anything anywhere. Nothing to sign up for, nothing to sync.

FAQ

Can I block Reels without deleting Instagram?
Yes. That is exactly what Unhook does: Instagram stays installed and logged in, only the Reels feed gets closed as soon as it opens. Messages, Stories and the home feed keep working.
Does it hide Shorts, or just kick me out?
It throws you back. Android has no official switch to turn Shorts or Reels off, so Unhook detects the feed screen and presses back for you. Light and Normal give you a small allowance first; Strict is instant.
Blockers like this stop working after a day. Why?
Usually Android revoked the accessibility permission (app update, battery optimisation, some Samsung/Xiaomi settings). Unhook shows 'Detection active' when it is running and sends a notification the moment permission drops, so you can re-enable it in one tap.
Which apps are supported?
Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts (app and browser) and TikTok's For You feed on Android. Facebook Reels detection is included as well.
Is it free? Does it need internet?
All three modes are free with no subscription. Unhook declares no internet permission, so it cannot collect or send data.
