How to read the KJV Bible in a year
Short answer: The King James Bible has 1,189 chapters (929 in the Old Testament, 260 in the New). Reading 3 to 4 chapters a day, about 12 to 15 minutes, takes you through the whole Bible in 365 days.
Three simple plans
- Straight through: Genesis to Revelation, 3 to 4 chapters a day. Easiest to track.
- Old + New together: about 2 to 3 Old Testament chapters and 1 New Testament chapter a day, so you never go weeks without the New Testament.
- Psalms alongside: add one psalm a day to either plan; the 150 psalms fit in five months.
Tips that keep people going
- Read at the same time each day, such as your commute or before bed.
- Missed days are normal. Read one extra chapter for a few days instead of restarting.
- Long chapters (Psalm 119 has 176 verses) can take a whole day on their own.
- Keep your place automatically so you never have to hunt for where you stopped.
Using Verseleaf for a yearly reading
Verseleaf does not include a built-in reading plan or checklist. What it does do: it opens to exactly the chapter and verse where you stopped, works offline so you can read anywhere, lets you bookmark the day's end point, and can send one quiet reminder at the time you pick. Pair it with any printed plan above.
