Vocadeck Privacy Policy

Vocadeck ("the app") is an offline vocabulary notebook provided by DDJ A1 ("we", "us"). Vocadeck is deliberately designed as a local-only app: it has no account system, no login, no server, and no cloud storage operated by us. The words you study never leave your phone.

What Vocadeck is

Vocadeck lets you build your own word lists — a word, its meaning — and drill them with flashcards and multiple-choice quizzes, in either direction (word to meaning, or meaning to word). Quizzes, the study history, the home screen "word of the day" widget and CSV backup are all part of the free app; there is no subscription, no paid tier and no in-app purchase.

Data stored on your device

Everything you enter — deck names, words, meanings, which words you marked as learned, quiz results and reminder settings — is stored only on your device in the app's private storage. We never receive it, and we cannot see it.

The app has no sign-up, account or login, and it never transmits your study data anywhere. Uninstalling the app deletes all of it. Android's standard app backup may include this data in your own Google account backup if you have device backup enabled; that backup is controlled by you and Google, not by us.

Import and export

You can export your decks to a CSV file and import words from a CSV file. Both go through Android's own file picker: the app receives only the single file you choose, and writes only to the location you pick. We never see the file, and nothing is uploaded by us.

Sharing

At your explicit request, Vocadeck can hand a short piece of text — a quiz score — to the app you pick in Android's share sheet. Nothing is uploaded by us. Once that text leaves the app, it is under your control.

Permissions

Vocadeck asks for one runtime permission:

• Notifications — used only for the optional study reminders. If you decline, every feature of the app still works normally.

The app also declares the following install-time permissions:

• Run at startup — so your optional reminders are re-registered after you restart your phone. Without it, a reboot would silently cancel them.
• Vibration — for the optional vibration on reminders.
• Internet / network state — used only by the advertising SDK described below. Studying itself works with no network at all, including in airplane mode.

Vocadeck does not request camera, phone, contacts, location, microphone, SMS, calendar, notification-listener, body-sensor, activity-recognition, storage, or display-over-other-apps permissions.

Information collected automatically

When you use the app, certain information may be collected automatically by third-party SDKs used for advertising. This may include:

• Your device's Internet Protocol (IP) address
• Your device's advertising identifier (Advertising ID)
• App usage events such as session time and screens viewed
• The mobile operating system and device model you use

This information is processed by the advertising provider described below. None of your study data is included in it. Your decks, words and quiz results are never sent to the advertising SDK, to us, or to anyone else.

Advertising

The app displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob. To serve ads, AdMob and its partners may access your device's Advertising ID and the information described above; this data is shared with Google as a third party for advertising and marketing purposes. For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, and other regions where required, the app presents a consent form via Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) before personalized advertising data is used; if you decline, non-personalized ads are shown instead. You can reset or limit ad personalization at any time in your device settings (Settings → Google → Ads), and you can change your consent choice from the app's Settings screen ("Ad privacy settings").

Ads stay out of the way: the screen where you type words in carries no banner at all, no ad ever appears while you are working through flashcards or quiz questions, the exit dialog carries no ad, and the home screen widget shows your word with no ad at any point.

Notifications and reminders

Reminders are created and scheduled locally on your device. No push notification service is used, and we send you nothing from a server. Reminders can be turned off at any time in the app's Settings, and quiet hours are on by default.

Children

The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app displays ads configured through Google AdMob in accordance with Google's policies.

Your rights

Because your data exists only on your device, you are in direct control of it: you can delete any single word or deck, and uninstalling the app removes everything. Depending on your region (e.g. GDPR in the EEA/UK, CCPA in California), you may also have rights regarding data processed by advertising SDKs; you can exercise ad-related choices through the consent form and your device's ad settings described above.

Because we hold no data about you, we cannot delete data on your behalf — there is nothing on our side to delete.

Security

Your study data never leaves your device, which removes the most common exposure paths (server breaches, account leaks). We recommend protecting your device with a screen lock.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
