Wakebell Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-09-08
Wakebell ("the app") is an alarm clock provided by DDJ A1 ("we", "us"). Wakebell is deliberately designed as a local-only app: it has no account system, no login, no server, and no cloud storage operated by us. Your alarms, bedtime schedule, ring history and settings never leave your phone.
Data stored on your device
Your alarms (time, days, label, sound, volume, snooze and vibration settings), your bedtime schedule, your alarm history (whether each alarm rang, was dismissed or snoozed) and your app settings are stored only on your device in the app's private storage and are never transmitted to us.
There is no sign-up, account or login. Uninstalling the app deletes all of this data. Android's standard app backup may include this data in your own Google account backup if you have device backup enabled; that backup is controlled by you and Google, not by us.
Permissions
Wakebell asks for one runtime permission:
- Notifications — required to show the ringing alarm and the optional bedtime reminder. The app asks for it once, at the moment you save your first alarm. If you decline, you can grant it later in your device settings.
The app also declares the following install-time permissions, all of which are standard for an alarm clock:
- Alarms & reminders (exact alarm) — so an alarm set for 07:00 rings at 07:00 rather than whenever the system decides.
- Run at startup — so your alarms are re-registered after you restart your phone. Without it, a reboot would silently cancel every alarm.
- Vibrate, wake lock, full-screen intent — to wake the screen and show the ringing screen over the lock screen.
- Internet / network state — used only by the advertising SDK described below.
Wakebell does not request phone, contacts, location, camera, microphone, storage, display-over-other-apps, or battery-optimization exemptions.
Information collected automatically
When you use the app, certain information may be collected automatically by third-party SDKs used for advertising. This may include:
- Your device's Internet Protocol (IP) address
- Your device's advertising identifier (Advertising ID)
- App usage events such as session time and screens viewed
- The mobile operating system and device model you use
This information is processed by the advertising provider described below and is not linked by us to your alarms, which never leave your device.
Advertising
The app displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob. To serve ads, AdMob and its partners may access your device's Advertising ID and the information described above; this data is shared with Google as a third party for advertising and marketing purposes. For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, and other regions where required, the app presents a consent form via Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) before personalized advertising data is used; if you decline, non-personalized ads are shown instead. You can reset or limit ad personalization at any time in your device settings (Settings → Google → Ads), and you can change your consent choice from the app's Settings screen ("Ad privacy settings").
Ads are never shown on the ringing screen or the alarm editing screen, and the content of your alarms is never used to target ads.
For more information on how Google uses data when you use partners' apps, see https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Notifications and reminders
The ringing alarm and the optional bedtime reminder are scheduled and shown locally on your device. No push notification service is used. The bedtime reminder can be turned off at any time, both in the app and from the notification itself.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app displays ads configured through Google AdMob in accordance with Google's policies.
Your rights
Because your data exists only on your device, you are in direct control of it: you can edit or delete any alarm in the app at any time, and uninstalling the app removes everything. Depending on your region (e.g. GDPR in the EEA/UK, CCPA in California), you may also have rights regarding data processed by advertising SDKs; you can exercise ad-related choices through the consent form and your device's ad settings described above.
Because we hold no data about you, we cannot delete data on your behalf — there is nothing on our side to delete.
Security
Your data never leaves your device, which removes the most common exposure paths (server breaches, account leaks). We recommend protecting your device with a screen lock.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
