Week A / Week B timetables: how a two-week rotating schedule works

Short answer: a Week A / Week B timetable repeats every two weeks instead of every week. Most classes are the same in both weeks; a few appear only in Week A or only in Week B. You need two things: which classes belong to which week, and which week the current one is.

1. Why schools use two-week timetables

Subjects with fewer hours, such as art or a lab, can meet every other week. A two-week cycle fits more subjects without making the school day longer.

2. Mark each class

For each class, write "every week", "Week A only" or "Week B only". Do not copy the whole week twice; that doubles the work every time something changes.

3. Pin down the current week

Find the first Week A of the term. Every Monday after that the week flips. If you are unsure, your school notice board or term calendar usually says it.

4. Watch out for holidays

A break can shift the rotation. At the start of each term, check once which week it is and correct it.

5. Reminders only on the right week

The point of a rotating timetable is not to walk to a class that isn't on this week. Reminders should follow the same Week A / Week B rule as the timetable.

Week A / Week B in Bellgrid

Turn on Week A / Week B in Bellgrid's settings and tap whether this week is A or B. When you add a class, choose every week, Week A only or Week B only. The timetable has an A / B switch to view either week, the Today tab shows the current week's classes, and reminders only ring for classes that are on that week. During a break, set the dates and reminders pause.

FAQ

How do I know whether this is Week A or Week B?

Ask your school or check the term calendar for the first Week A. From there the weeks simply alternate every Monday.

What happens to the rotation over a holiday?

Schools differ: some keep alternating through the break, others restart on Week A. Check once at the start of term and correct the week if needed.

Can a class be in both weeks?

Yes. Most classes meet every week; only some classes change between A and B.
