How to back up your diary app so you never lose an entry
Short answer: Export your diary to a plain file you can open without the app, and keep a copy in two places. Do it once a month and before you change phones.
Why diary backups fail
- The backup only opens inside the same app, so it is useless if the app changes or disappears.
- The cloud sign-in expired and automatic backup quietly stopped.
- The app was reinstalled before anyone checked the backup.
A simple routine
- Export everything to a ZIP once a month.
- Open the ZIP on a computer to confirm your entries are readable.
- Keep it on your computer and in a cloud drive.
- Before switching phones, export once more and import on the new phone.
Backup in Inkleaf
Settings, Backup, Export writes all entries and photos to a normal, unencrypted ZIP wherever you choose. Import reads the same ZIP on a new phone and skips entries you already have.
