Smoked after quitting? What to do next

Short answer: One cigarette is a slip, not a failure. Most people who quit for good slipped at least once. Restart the count today, write down what triggered it, and plan for that moment next time.

Right after the slip

  1. Don't finish the pack. One cigarette does not have to become a day of smoking.
  2. Find the trigger. Where were you, what were you doing, how strong was the urge?
  3. Restart the count. Your time smoke-free so far still counts.

Why resetting to zero hurts

Many quit apps wipe your progress when you reset, which makes a slip feel like losing everything. What you did before still happened: your body still recovered during those days.
