How to set a target exchange rate alert
Short answer: look at the 3-month range, set a target near the lower part of it (for buying), choose "at or below" or "at or above", allow notifications and exclude the app from battery optimization. When the alert fires, compare your bank's actual rate before exchanging.
1. Pick a realistic target
Open a 1-month and 3-month chart and note the high and low. A target inside that range can realistically hit; one far outside it may never come. If you are buying a currency, aim toward the low; if you are selling, toward the high.
2. Choose the direction
- At or below: "tell me when USD is 1,350 KRW or cheaper" (buying dollars).
- At or above: "tell me when EUR is 1.15 USD or more" (selling euros).
3. Make sure the alert can reach you
- Allow notifications for the app.
- Set battery usage to Unrestricted so background checks are not delayed.
- Don't force-stop the app from recent apps settings.
4. When it hits
Reference rates are daily mid-market rates. Your bank adds a spread, so check the bank's rate and fee before you exchange. Have a deadline too: if you travel next week, don't wait forever for a target.
Doing it with Rate Nudge
In Rate Nudge, add a target such as "USD ≤ 1,350 KRW". The app checks about every hour on your phone and notifies you when the daily reference rate crosses it, and each card shows how far away you are in %. Use the 1M/3M/1Y charts with period high and low to choose the number. Rates are daily reference rates, not real-time.
