How to play MP3 files offline on Android
Short answer: Copy the files into your phone's Music or Download folder, then open a local music player and allow access to "music and audio". The player reads Android's media library and plays the files with no internet.
Step by step
- Copy the files. Use a USB cable, a file manager or a download. Keep them in a folder such as Music.
- Open a local music player and grant the music and audio permission.
- Wait a moment if the files are new. Android scans new files into its media library, usually within seconds.
- Play. Tap a song, album or folder.
Which permission is enough?
On Android 13 and later, a music player only needs "music and audio". It does not need access to photos or videos. If a player asks for photos, you can decline and still play your music in most apps.
Song not showing up?
- Very short clips are often hidden on purpose (ringtones, voice notes).
- Files inside a folder with a ".nomedia" file are skipped by Android's scanner.
- Restarting the phone forces a new media scan.
In SunTape
SunTape asks only for music and audio, hides clips under 30 seconds, and plays everything offline on a cassette-style player.
