Truekit Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-09-05
Truekit ("the app") is a collection of everyday measuring tools — level, ruler, protractor, unit converter, compass, metal detector, sound meter, light meter, flashlight, magnifier, QR/barcode scanner and timer — provided by DDJ A1 ("we", "us"). Truekit is deliberately designed as a local-only app: it has no account system, no login, no server, and no cloud storage operated by us. Nothing you measure, scan or set leaves your phone.
Data stored on your device
Your favorites, calibration values, unit and theme preferences, timer state and reminder settings are stored only on your device and are never transmitted to us. There is no sign-up, account, or login. Deleting the app deletes all of this data. Android's standard app backup may include these preferences in your own Google account backup if you have device backup enabled; that backup is controlled by you and Google, not by us.
If you use the Share feature, the text is delivered only to the destination you explicitly choose (for example a messaging app).
Sensors, camera and microphone
- Motion and magnetic sensors (level, protractor, compass, metal detector) and the light sensor are read in real time to display a value. Readings are not recorded or sent anywhere.
- Camera is used only while the magnifier or the QR/barcode scanner is open. No photo or video is captured or saved. Codes are decoded on the device and are not sent to any server. The flashlight controls the LED directly and does not use the camera permission.
- Microphone is used only while the sound meter is open, to compute a loudness value. Audio is not recorded or stored.
- Approximate location is optional and used only if you enable "True north" in the compass, to compute the local magnetic declination from the phone's last known location. The app does not request GPS updates and does not store or transmit location.
Each permission is requested only when you open the tool that needs it, and every tool keeps working (with that feature disabled) if you decline.
Information collected automatically
When you use the app, certain information may be collected automatically by third-party SDKs used for advertising. This may include:
- Your device's Internet Protocol (IP) address
- Your device's advertising identifier (Advertising ID)
- App usage events such as session time and screens viewed
- The mobile operating system and device model you use
This information is processed by the advertising provider described below and is not linked by us to anything you measure, which never leaves your device.
Advertising
The app displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob. To serve ads, AdMob and its partners may access your device's Advertising ID and the information described above. For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, and other regions where required, the app presents a consent form via Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) before personalized advertising data is used; if you decline, non-personalized ads are shown instead. You can reset or limit ad personalization at any time in your device settings (Settings → Google → Ads), and you can change your consent choice from the app's Settings screen ("Ad privacy settings").
For more information on how Google uses data when you use partners' apps, see https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Notifications
Timer alerts and optional reminders are scheduled and shown locally on your device. No push notification service is used, and notification content is not sent to any server.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app displays ads configured through Google AdMob in accordance with Google's policies.
Your rights
Because your settings exist only on your device, you are in direct control of them: you can change or delete them in the app at any time, and uninstalling the app removes them completely. Depending on your region (e.g. GDPR in the EEA/UK, CCPA in California), you may also have rights regarding data processed by advertising SDKs; you can exercise ad-related choices through the consent form and your device's ad settings described above.
Security
Your data never leaves your device, which removes the most common exposure paths (server breaches, account leaks). We recommend protecting your device with a screen lock.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
